About Dr. Parking 4
On a first sight of Dr. Parking 4, there is no chance to mistake this game for anything else. It has a very obvious vibe to it, which is all about parking. The cars themselves might look like they are taken out of actual racing games, but the gameplay here is much more laid back. That doesn’t meant that it’s easy, however, as parking perfectly in 80 different levels is a big challenge!

During these 80 Practice levels, your job will be to take full control of your vehicle, then move it into the designated parking areas. These areas are indicated with yellow on each level, making your goal obvious, although not much easier to get to. It’s worth to keep in mind that you can park in any direction you want, the only thing that matters is that your car should be fully inside the yellow indicator, otherwise it doesn’t count.

To control the vehicle you have a few things to keep track of, starting with the two pedals on the left. You have the gas pedal, which will increase the speed of the car, while the secondary pedal, the brake will stop it completely while you hold it down. There is also a steering wheel on the right, which can be turned from left to right multiple times, just like a real steering wheel.

In an arcade game these controls would be more than enough, but in Dr. Parking 4 realism plays a big part. Because of this you also have to be aware of the transmission, which has four different settings: drive, neutral, reverse and parking. When set to drive the car will move forward, obviously, while neutral will cause it to be still, and reverse makes it go backwards. Parking is only used once you are in the indicated parking spot, as it completes the level immediately. Other than these very important controls, you also have a camera switch button, which changes the perspective from an above the car view to a first person view from inside the car.

Using these simple sounding controls you can take on the whole game, as this is all you will need to know to finish the 80 levels. This doesn’t mean that it will be easy though, as constantly switching from drive to reverse, as well as steering just the right amount is crucial. Even more so, since if your car hits anything, including other cars, walls or cones, that means failure. A failed level can be restarted at any time without a delay, but you have to start from the beginning again, even if you parked in two of the three required parking spots on the level before the fail.

When you finally feel content with your ability to park in Dr. Parking 4, it’s time to try your skill level online! The multiplayer mode of the game is called League, where you can pick from Compact, Midsize and Large leagues, translating to what type of cars can take part in them. In a League you are matched with a random player or can play with a friend, and both of you will play in real time against eachother. The goal of a multiplayer match is to park faster than your opponent, who will be shown as a ghostly car on the same level as you. Alternatively you can also win when your opponent crashes, as it counts as instant failure.

To be able to take part in multiple League types, or just perform better on them, you can buy new cars or upgrade your already owned ones. To purchase a new car just go to the car shop and pick the one you like, then pay with either coins or the premium Ruby. All cars have stats of Engine, Brake and Steering, which increases as you pick more expensive cars. The upgrade process can also increase these for 1,000 coins each time, raising the power of one random stat everytime you pay the coins.

In case you want faster progress or Ruby only cars, Dr. Parking 4 offers in-app purchases just for this reason. The cheapest pack of Ruby costs $1.99 for 200 Ruby, while the most expensive ones goes for $19.99 and provides 2,000 Ruby. These then can be exchanged into coins at a rate of 20 Ruby for 2,000 coins. The game also has some ads, mainly in the form of banner ads at the top of the menu screen, as well as some rare popups after completed levels. These however can’t be disabled at the moment.

Dr. Parking 4 includes some cheats for its players, just to make their life a bit easier. These are mostly related to ways in which you can earn currency, but there are also some useful tips and tricks for the gameplay. If you are curious, then read on!

The first and possibly biggest of the cheats in this game is the ability to complete offers and earn an amazing amount of coins for free! Just simply go to the shop and pick from one of the sponsored apps of the developer, then download and play it for a short time. After it’s done, you will have the coins added to your account already!

A somewhat less profitable, but still very useful way to earn coins in Dr. Parking 4 is by watching ads for coins. This option can be found on the upgrade screen at random times, and if you tap on it a video ad will start to play. Just watch it completely, and you will be rewarded with some more coins!

The last currency related cheat is the ability to complete quests each day, which provide you with some free coins. These quests usually entail something rather simple, such as “Play a game with a player from another country!” for 7,000 coins. Just keep an eye out for the little Quest button in the menu to see what your task is at the moment!

As a Dr. Parking 4 gameplay tip, if you wish to play with a friend of yours, then there are two ways to go about that. You can either queue up for a match as usual at the same time, then hope to get matched together, or use the simpler method! This is done by tapping on the smiley face in the League menu, then entering a number assigned to your friend. Once both of you do this, you will be automatically matched together!

Dr. Parking 4 Review
Even though I don’t actually have a driver’s license in real life, and I don’t usually play parking simulator games either, Dr. Parking 4’s amazing success inspired me in a way. I just couldn’t keep away from giving it a go, and seeing what its popularity is all about. Will you like what I found out? Let’s see!

The first thing that caught my eye in this game was the very friendly and easy to maneuver menu system and user interface, which was just very clean. There were no unneccesary buttons anywhere, and the biggest distraction was the banner ad at the top, which wasn’t blocking any part of the game, so it’s not a big deal. Entering the actual levels was just as pleasant of an experience, with very fast load times.

Once I was in a level, the goal was very clearly explained to me in the first few tutorial lessons, and then I was given free hand at the game. Learning to drive and reverse at the right times, as well as use the brake and gas pedals accurately and precisely was an interesting challenge. I also liked the fact that the steering wheel had to be turned around multiple times to fully turn to a side, just like in real life. This added a sense of excitement, as the controls actually felt realistic and responsive at the same time.

Since I’m usually not a pro at these type of games, I was pleasantly surprised at how well Dr. Parking 4 kept my attention all the way through. The biggest reason for this are the controls, obviously, but the increasingly difficult levels and challenges were another. I think the difficulty is just perfect in this title, as it’s not too hard but not too easy either. With some practice and after learning the controls every level can be completed on a first try, especially if the steps are taken slowly. There is no reason to hurry in the Practice levels, so they are perfect for learning all the tricks of the game.

The multiplayer, aka the Season mode on the other hand was a bit different, as it not only required faster thinking and control of the car, it also had some issues. The fact that the online part of the game is even more challenging than the Practice levels is not a bad thing, and I actually liked it, even though I was behind some of my opponents in speed. Still, learning the game takes time, and losing a few online matches is not the end of the world!

The problems on the other hand were really annoying, as Dr. Parking 4 had some connectivity issues. I often couldn’t find any matches, even after waiting for more than 5 to 10 minutes at times. At other times the matches only took 30 seconds to find, but I still feel like some improvements to the connectivity could help.

Regarding the car shop and the upgrade process, there isn’t much to talk about here. These are as basic as it gets in a car game, with flat stat increases and only slight differences in car designs. I actually found most cars to be somewhat bland looking, and only their color kept them apart. Sure, the stats are important in the League mode, but using coins can get similarly powerful cars as if they were bought with Ruby.

Overall, Dr. Parking 4 is an above average parking simulator game, with realistic controls, a good amount of singleplayer challenges, as well as a multiplayer mode! The connectivity of the game could be improved a bit, but otherwise it’s a close to perfect pick, if you are looking for a parking simulator!

Artwork: The artwork of Dr. Parking 4 deserves a 7/10. Even though the game looks friendly and inviting on a first sight, there are some small issues. Most of the playable cars look a bit too similar to eachother, while the same ingame non-player car models are reused a bit too much on levels. But other than these issues, the quality of the graphics is impressive for such a game.

Music & SFX: The music and the SFX of this title get a 5/10. Sadly, the music in the game is just a repetitive sample song, which gets really tiresome to listen to in the first five minutes. The SFX are not very impressive either, as they are barely noticeable.

Story & Originality: As for the originality of Dr. Parking 4, I give it an 8/10. There are many other parking simulator games on the market already, but most of them don’t really deliver the realism factor. This is a title that manages to do it exceptionally well, so it deserves praise for it.

General Gameplay: I award the general gameplay with an 8/10 as well. The realistic, thought requiring controls of this game are just great, while the Practice mode levels provide for an awesome playground to test and learn them on. Then there is the League mode to compete with other players from around the world, or play friendly matches with friends. Sadly the car shop and the upgrades are a bit disappointing in variety and the upgrade methods.

Addictiveness: The addictiveness of this title gets an 9/10 from me. If you have some friends to play Dr. Parking 4 with, then it will last a really long time, as competing with eachother raises the bar a lot. But even without that, playing through the 80 challenge levels and competing with strangers can be addicting enough to come back to this game even months later!
