What I say: Everybody loves ninjas. Ninja games generally do pretty well as its fun to skulk in the darkness and cut some folks up. You would have to work pretty hard to mess up a ninja game. Recotechnology are hard workers.
Kaoru Tamaegi, an onion, and Broccoli Joe, a…broccoil, meet in a dungeon. The onion lets the broccoli out of his cage because reasons. The two begin their adventure. You can control one or the other, able to switch at any time and AI controls the other. Or you can play two players which is best if you have someone handy you don’t like. This also prevents the stupid AI from sabotaging you at every step. Environments are so dull and bland you will think you are constantly running in a circle. If you get your bearings and escape then you find yourself in another circleish bland environment.
Overall the cel-shaded graphics look great as long as the game is standing still. If there is any kind of movement the game devolves into a glitchy, blurry much with severe frame rate dips and slowdown out the wazoo. Advice? Don’t move. Better advice? Don’t play. There is some kind of story but between fighting the AI, enemies, and thinking you are going blind from the horrendous graphics you really won’t care. There are only a small handful of enemy types, most pickles that slice when hit. Sounds cool but it’s not I assure you.
I love gaming and I hate to just crap on a game I am reviewing but dear God there is literally no positive thing I can say about this “hack and slash” adventure. The music is even dull and forgettable. The game is full of platforming but with no real depth you will spend more time dodging your partner than making jumps. The perspective always seems off and that makes the game unnecessarily hard. Avoid!
