Well I’m sure you all heard by now, that Xbox is basically ditching the Kinect. With support on the Xbox One S requiring an adapter and Xbox Fitness being discontinued, what’s left to do with the Kinect? Well my friends, I think I’ve discovered the game that might bring people back to the Kinect. Welcome to the amazing world of FRU !

In my opinion, FRU is what the Kinect was meant for, now I did review a similar type of game in the past for Kinect: Commander Cherry. However, that game only used your body as the platform to climb on. Now, where FRU is different is it allows you to use your body to see hidden platforms and go into the “alternate color world/reality ” as I like to call it.

The simplicity of the platforming is surely on purpose; you’re moving your body into all sorts of shapes while holding a controller. Jumping is cleverly mapped to the triggers, which means that during those moments where you need to move your hands separately, you’ll still be able to hold onto the controller. Something that other Kinect games, like the previously mentioned Commander Cherry, didn’t do well with some levels.

The game is broken up into four chapters, each with their own mechanic to learn and master:
The first chapter just has players moving their bodies to reveal platforms, or allow passage past walls that block their path.
The second chapter turns your body’s outline into water that your character can swim through as you move about with them proverbially inside of you.
The third chapter has you posing to press down buttons.
The fourth chapter introduces lava into the mix.
